Caring for carers

Our mission for Caring for Carers is to help those who work and care to better balance challenges – personal, financial, professional and emotional, as well as recognising and celebrating the fantastic job carers do. 47% of carers aged 60-65 have zero private pension savings¹. 

Our initiative supports colleagues, customers, and communities by: 

• Raising awareness of carers’ vital role and advocating for change. 
• Improving financial wellbeing so carers feel secure and in control. 
• Creating flexible work opportunities that allow carers to save for the future while caring for loved ones. 

Since starting Caring for Carers, we’ve supported 64,971 carers directly, and ~2.3 million indirectly through our partnerships. Internally, we’ve seen a 57% increase in colleagues recognising themselves as carers.  

We’ve partnered with a number of charities to help support our mission.  

Our UK partners include: 

• Carers UK – Advocating for unpaid carers and providing essential support. 
• Carers Trust – Helping carers access employment and skills through research and volunteering. 
• Family Carers Ireland – Supporting Ireland’s caring community of over 500,000 people.  

Fundraising and giving back

We provide monetary donations through Standard Life’s philanthropic contributions and colleagues’ fundraising efforts.
