At Standard Life we want to do our very best to support our customers, clients and colleagues. Not just during the good times, but the hard times too.
We know that even if a person looks okay, they may be struggling with an illness that you can’t see or understand.
That’s why we sponsor causes that help support people who have an invisible illness. We know that living with long-term illness can make it difficult to plan for the future. By working together we hope to raise awareness of the unseen challenges many people face each day.
We are a proud sponsor of Endometriosis UK. They’re a leading charity and source of resources and support for women in the UK affected by the condition.
Endometriosis is painful and can have a big impact on quality of life and family planning. It can also be difficult to diagnose and its symptoms can be challenging to manage.
This long-term condition affects one in 10 women of reproductive age. This means many of our customers could be directly affected, including carers of loved ones with the condition.
Together, Endometriosis UK and Standard Life are working to raise awareness and reduce the stigma around this invisible condition. It’s about helping people to get comfortable with the uncomfortable.
We also support the charity with their goal of reducing the time to diagnosis in the UK from an average of 7.5 years to less than one.
The first part of our award-winning campaign was a gallery exhibition in London and Edinburgh. It featured portraits by world-renowned photographer Rankin.
The stories behind each portrait were revealed using augmented reality, which gave viewers the chance to see beyond the invisible illness and hear personal stories.
